Anesthesia Setup: Medications

At my current clinical facility, drugs are drawn up in the morning, then locked in the anesthesia cart in the room.  My first day,  I was told to draw up the drugs and even though I’m a nurse, figuring out which syringes they wanted to use slowed me down the first couple times.  Here’s a quick guide to how I draw them up.  It’s best to draw your drugs up in order of what you’ll be using, that way you won’t forget anything.  Here’s what my normal drug set up looks like:   Midazolam – 3 cc syringe Fentanyl – Continue Reading

NCLEX Chronicles

The NCLEX was probably one of the hardest exams that I have ever taken in my life.  The questions were difficult, and it was easy to let anxiety get the best of you.  I walked out of the exam room feeling as if I failed, tears beginning to form in my eyes…but a day later I found out that I passed.  So here’s my advice: KAPLAN I took the Kaplan Online Anywhere course and I absolutely loved it!  I logged on for class from 8pm – 11pm, and was met by hundreds of other students in a chat room.  I Continue Reading
